The PC is a decade old but it came with Windows 7. When I wiped it, it went all the way back to windows XP. I was a child at the time of Windows XP and I just have no idea how to get it connected to the internet and put windows 10 back on it. I've got an ethernet plugged into the router but no clue on how to get any of it going.

8 Since yesterday my Windows XP install is stuck on the loading screen (XP logo and "progress bar" constantly moving). I waited more than one hour but nothing more happened. Before this problem occured I didn't install anything new (no driver, no update), just read some blogs. What I did : restored to a previous restore point (successfully).

Perform a clean boot. While still in Safe Mode, hit the Windows + R keys to open the Run command. Type in msconfig and hit Enter. In the System Configuration window that opens, navigate to the Services tab and check Hide all Microsoft services option. Click on Disable all.
Ok try booting up the computer in safe mode. Whilst there click start - run, type msconfig and press enter. click the diagonostic startup. click apply and restart your computer. Doing this should only load up the basic services and devices required by windows. If this works upon restart open up the msconfig control panel again and select
