Price. A quality macro lens at less than $400 is what makes this lens such a great value. When writing this review, the Tokina 100mm Macro is selling for around $350 at places like B&H Photo, Amazon and Adorama. Thatβs about 1/3 the price of the Nikon and Canon equivalent, and about $150 cheaper than the Sigma lens.
This shot made great use of the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens' image stabilization. IS helped me frame the shot precisely, tightly and kept the shot sharp at 1/50 sec. The camera position is such that the entire length of wings falls into the plane of sharp focus. 100mm f/11.0 1/50s ISO 100.

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro. The EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro works on full-frame and APS-C DSLR cameras as well as 35mm SLRs, which the RF lens cannot. Use an EF to RF adapter to use the EF lens on Canon's EOS-R series of mirrorless cameras. This new RF lens focuses continuously to 1.4Γ magnification, while the EF lens only goes to 1Γ.
My RF 100mm f2.8L Macro review versus the EF 100mm f2.8L Macro!Canon RF 100mm f2.8L Macro at B&H:
Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Lens Canon EF 100mm f/2.0 USM Lens Canon EF 135mm f/2.0L USM Lens Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Lens. The same lenses are shown below in their fully extended states with their lens hoods in place. The 135 L is shipped with a plain round but large-for-the-lens-size ET-78II lens hood. aoYo.
